PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required for the people in the field of autotronics.

The learning outcomes of this unit standard also contribute to the exit levels outcomes required for the autotronics NQF 3 level qualification.

Qualifying learners are able to service and repair conventional automobile ignition systems from circuit diagrams, per instruction and in accordance to procedures, in a safe and aware manner.

Read, discuss and interpret automobile conventional ignition system circuit diagrams and symbols 
OUTCOME RANGE 
Circuits include four cylinder engines.

Symbols include battery, low and high-tension cables, ignition coil, distributor (breaker points and condenser), spark plug cables, spark plugs, vacuum advance mechanism, ignition switch.
