PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

This unit standard is for learners in the field of Safety and Society who utilize a trained sheep dog in gathering animals for the investigation of crime.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:

Utilize a sheep dog in investigation of stock theft in a controlled scenario.

Gather and release sheep by making use of a sheep dog in a controlled scenario.

Assist in the investigation of stock theft crimes.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE

Although a sheep dog is normally used to gather sheep and goats, this trained sheep dog mentioned in this unit standard may also be used to gather any other animals for the purposes of investigation of crime.

Crime scenes are managed by taking control, and planning the use of a sheep dog.

A search is planned taking influencing factors into account.
