PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for a person who works in a dairy environment, or who wants to start a career in the dairy industry. Comprehension of dairy equipment, processing and supporting systems and terminology contributes to his/her personal development and career in the food industry, but especially in the dairy industry.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to demonstrate an understanding of:
  • Dairy equipment used in the dairy industry.
  • Dairy terminology used in the dairy industry.
  • Dairy supporting functions and equipment used in the dairy industry.
  • Dairy processing systems.

    This unit standard will contribute to the full development of the learner within the dairy manufacturing environment by providing recognition, further mobility and transportability within the field of manufacturing and assembly.
