PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of General Draughting.

This unit standard provides a broad introduction to the planning and preparing of drawings and has been developed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for activities at and above this level in the field of drawing and design. The focus is knowledge, skills, values and attitudes in relation to the learner's own context and experience of the world of work.

The qualifying learner will be able to:

    LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are already competent in:
  • Communication, Mathematical Literacy and Computer Literacy at NQF Level 2.

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    For the scope and level of this unit standard, draughting will include general draughting, mechanical draughting, architectural / civil draughting, structural steel detailing, electrical draughting, piping and instrumentation draughting.
