    It is assumed that the learner is competent in Mathematical Literacy and Communication at NQF Level 1.

    A list of body components is compiled accurately and in accordance with the applicable literature is demonstrated. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Compile a list of materials used in the body construction. 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
    Materials includes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, coated metal, treated metal, plastic, carbon fibre, synthetics, leathers, glass, rubber and pvc. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A list of materials used in the body construction accurately and in accordance with the applicable literature is compiled. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4 
    Compile a list of the safety features in a vehicle. 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
    Safety features include all supplementary restraint systems (SRS) systems and crumple zones. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A list of safety features used in the vehicle construction is compiled accurately and in accordance with the applicable literature. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5 
    Interact with others to identify the activating mechanisms and functions of the safety features on a vehicle. 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
  • Interact with others includes the liaison with competent persons to point out and explain the location and functions of the safety features.
  • Activating mechanisms include their location, characteristics and safety precautionary measures when repair work surrounding them is carried out.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Explanations given are clear and appropriate examples are given of the location and function of the activating mechanisms and safety features.
