PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners working towards this standard will be working within a Public Sector environment, specialising in Public Finance Management and Administration, where the acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to one's job. This standard will also add value to public officials who are seeking to develop a career pathway towards becoming an accomplished public finance management and administration specialist.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Applying supply chain management policies and procedures within the public sector

    Legislation pertaining to supply chain management within the public sector includes but is not limited to BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) policies and principles, the Municipal Finance Management Act, the Public Finance Management Act.

    Guidelines and principles that enable the operation of a sound supply chain management in the public sector are described.

    Contractual principles, policies and procedures that apply to the public sector are explained and applied.

    The ethics and codes of conduct associated with supply chain management within the public sector are explained and applied.

    Reporting processes pertaining to supply chain management codes of conduct are explained.

    Contract administration is undertaken on an ongoing basis to ensure proactive management of contracts.
