PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard will be able to understand exhibition services and be able to work successfully in the exhibition industry. The learners' overall understanding of exhibition services will assist them to build relationships with exhibitors and organisers in the industry and thus ensure the growth of the industry. Learners will also recognise and understand the use of the various services required in the exhibition industry.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Explaining the various services required by exhibitors and organisers
  • Explaining the contents of an exhibitor manual and its usefulness
  • Explaining the different stand options available to exhibitors
  • Explaining the relationship between service suppliers, organisers and exhibitors
  • Explaining build-up and breakdown procedures pertaining to service suppliers 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Competence in Computer Literacy, Mathematical Literacy and Communication at NQF level 2 or equivalent. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Service suppliers will include but are not limited to: stand builders, contractors for carpeting/flooring, electrical, graphics and signage, shell scheme, furniture and equipment hire, plumbing, telephone and internet lines, registration, stand designers, audio visual, staging and rigging, cleaning, plant hire, security services and freight handling.

    Services not included in stand options and packages are listed with an explanation of why they are excluded and how they may be obtained

    Venue restrictions pertaining to installation of services are identified and explained to exhibitors in required format

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
