PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A person credited with this unit standard is able to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of ERP consulting, and its impact on the business environment.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Map the ERP transactions within a specific functional area to the business process flow.
  • Analyse the interdependence of the transactions within a business process.
  • Relate business activities to specific ERP transactions within a specific functional area.

    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Computing at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
  • Communication skills at NQF level 3.

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • This unit standard is meant to give learners an understanding of the connection between business enabling systems and the processes they support.
  • Learners are expected to gain an awareness of the manner in which Business systems, and ERP systems in particular, can add value in a business environment.
  • This unit standard alone will not give learners comprehensive technical expertise in ERP or Business systems.
  • The unit standard relies on the learners awareness of some aspect of the business functionality, be it through direct experience or observation.

    Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria: 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Map the ERP transaction with a specific functional area to the business process. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    ERP transactions are identified and documented within a business process flow. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    ERP transactions are described in relation to a business process with the aid of a graphical tool. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Analyse the interdependence of the transactions within a business process. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A description of the interdependent nature of ERP transactions is provided with specific reference to an organisational example. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The manner in which the ERP transactions are dependent on each other is articulated in the context of the business process flow. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    An example of a business process, related to a specific area of operation, is provided, listing all the transactions therein and demonstrating their interdependence. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The implications of not executing the transactions in the correct sequence are highlighted using a specific example. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Relate business activities to specific ERP transactions within a specific functional area. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Specific business activities that correspond to equivalent system transactions are identified within an ERP system. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A list of at least ten (10) ERP transactions and the equivalent business activities are identified within an organization is compiled in writing. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed against this unit standard (including through RPL) may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard, or assessing this unit standard, must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be conducted by the relevant ETQA, or one with an appropriate MOU with the relevant ETQA.
