PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this unit standard are able procure and buy stock in a manner that is economical and efficient to a craft enterprise. The unit standard contributes to the learning of those who want to develop a career path in the Art, Craft and Design sector, and contributes to greater levels of productivity and quality in this industry.

The qualifying learner is capable of sourcing suppliers of stock, negotiating acceptable and profitable purchasing conditions, and developing relationships that will ensure effective supply of stock to the craft enterprise. All the latter is done in a way that ensures the efficient operation of the enterprise

Learners credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Establish sources of supply of craft stock.
  • Issue orders for craft stock and prepare and/or verify relevant documentation
  • Negotiate profitable and acceptable conditions and develop relationships to ensure effective supply of craft stock to the business.
  • Evaluate current suppliers against the supplier specification and performance

    It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication, NQF Level 4.
