PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to identify and meet customer's rental needs through following and applying correct rental procedures. Learners are also able to deal with unexpected situations and use the available resources within the rental company to address these. Learners will be able to identify potential problems, create solutions in line with organisational standards, implement these solutions and monitor the effectiveness of the action plan implemented.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Developing and implementing an action plan to achieve desired service levels
  • Monitoring progress and effectiveness of action plans implemented 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy, literacy and information technology at NQF level 4 or equivalent.

  • Customer needs include but are not limited to: types of vehicle, rate, additional charges, vehicle products, terms and conditions, theft, waivers, insurance cover, accident and breakdown procedures.
  • Rental procedures include but are not limited to: vehicle checkout and return, renal extensions, vehicle change over.
  • Unexpected situations include but are not limited to: reservation system failure, vehicle shortage, fleet planning failure, dissatisfied customers.
  • Company resources include but are not limited to: account queries, database updates, sales departments, service departments.
