PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This standard is in the core category of the NQF Level 4 National Certificate in CTFL Mechanician Processes. Learners who are assessed competent with this unit standard are able to conduct and monitor waste processes for work in progress and record, report, analyse and evaluate waste. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners will have attained the National Certificate in CTFL Mechanician Processes at NQF Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Conducting and monitoring waste processes for work in progress. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The explanation outlines that monitoring procedures are identified in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The demonstration confirms, monitoring procedures are followed to determine that waste observation processes are operational as specified in reporting procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The demonstration confirms, all incidents of waste are identified, severity of waste is assessed and remedial action is taken in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The explanation outlines, the consequences of waste taking place and not timeously reducing excessive waste in accordance with legislated waste requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Statistical data is analysed in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Recording, reporting, analysing and evaluating waste.

    The explanation outlines, what records and reports must be produced and what corrective action was taken applying reporting procedures and waste legislation.

    Typical waste records or reports are analysed and evaluated in conjunction with company policies and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The demonstration confirms, compliance with waste reduction practices, legislation and procedures.

    Waste disposal systems including legal systems are developed in accordance with laid down legislation and accepted international practice pertaining to waste. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 7 
    Minimisation programmes and schemes are applied and adhered to at all times in accordance with laid down company requirements.
