PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard introduces the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed by intermediaries for registration in category A.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Indicating how to plan a sales schedule.
  • Explaining an assistance policy.
  • Demonstrating the sales process for an assistance policy.
  • Providing after sales service. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The typical scope of this Unit Standard is
  • Legislation includes the Insurance Acts and any other legislation governing compliance.
  • The basis for a decision includes, but is not limited to, affordability, type of product needed, existing cover and other commitments.
  • Documents required by an organisation include, but are not limited to, lapse reports or warnings and sales production, logistic, commission and NTU (not taken up) reports and management information.

    The limits of own registration with a Financial Services Provider are explained with reference to an organisation's policy.

    The opening of the sales process is demonstrated including the Know your client and disclosure requirements.

    Questions are asked to establish a client's needs and a decision is made as to whether or not the package meets those needs.

    A commitment is suggested for a relevant product and any objections are assessed appropriately.

    The process for handling complaints is outlined according to legislated procedures and best practice.

    The processes relating to different methods of premium payments are outlined for a specific organisation.

    Sales documents required by an organisation are completed and the results are interpreted in order to create a plan to improve production.
