PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for people who deliver stock purchased from a Wholesale or Retail organisation or pick up stock previously delivered, from customers.

Persons credited with this unit standard are able to function under general supervision and carry out established and familiar procedures in familiar environments. This person is able to co-operate with others in delivering and, where required, assembling/disassembling purchases to the customer's satisfaction and in a cost-effective manner. This function also includes basic processing of readily available information.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Items for delivery are identified and collected as per the organisation's procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The condition of the items is checked to ensure they meet the required standards and any damaged stock is reported according to organisational procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Goods are verified to the delivery documents prior to loading according to organisational procedures. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Plan the delivery.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Routes including delivery and pick up are checked for clarity and grouped in a cost effective manner.

    The customer is notified of the delivery/pick up and access to premises is confirmed.

    The name, address and products for delivery/pick up are confirmed with the customer.

    The goods are loaded in the appropriate sequence according to delivery route.

    Packing material and methods are used to secure and protect goods from damage/spoilage whilst in transit according to organisational procedures and characteristics of the goods being delivered.

    Obtain proof of delivery/pick up.

    Stock is off loaded using the applicable equipment.

    Goods are assembled/disassembled according to organisation and manufacture's specification (where applicable).

    The customer's signature is obtained to confirm delivery/pick up and condition of stock according to the organisation's procedures.

    In case of cash-on-delivery, payment is obtained and receipt issued according to organisation's requirements.

    Ways in which shrinkage and losses occur are explained in relation to the process of loading, unloading and delivering stock.

    Handle discrepancies in deliveries.

    Merchandise found to be damaged and not accepted by the customer is handled according to organisational procedures.

    Stock that could not be delivered due to other reasons is returned to the depot according to organisational procedures.

    Documentation is checked to ensure completeness prior to handing to relevant parties at end of delivery process.

    Reports as required by organisation on delivery process are completed according to organisational requirements.

    Programmes leading to the award of credits from this unit standard will be accredited by the relevant SETA in its ETQA role. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant SETA ETQA.

    Internal Moderations will be performed by the Accredited Providers whilst the relevant ETQA will perform external moderations of assessments across the Accredited Providers according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.
