PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for persons responsible for the drive a vehicle and transport goods for businesses.

Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to maintain safety over the vehicle and the goods and implement legal and organsiational transport requirements.

This unit standard covers the transport and safety of goods in transit. It does not cover the liscencing of drivers.

    Use of company vehicles is explained in terms of authorised trips and adherence to routes. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Procedures for reporting of accidents are explained in terms of legal and organisational requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The responsibility for fines received and reporting thereof is explained in terms of organisational policy and procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Procedures for refuelling and charging for fuel is explained in terms of organisational policy and procedures.

    All vehicle defects are identified and reported accurately; comprehensively and timorously, so that the necessary actions to rectify defects are initiated.

    Hygiene standards of the vehicle are ensured to meet legislated and organisational requirements.

    Shrinkage and losses are explained in relation to the profits of the organisation and its impact on employees.

    The action to take and reporting requirements in the event of a hi-jacking is explained in terms of legal and organisational requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Security procedures over transported stock is maintained while the vehicle is in the process of being loaded/off-loaded as required by the organisation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Security procedures over goods in transit is maintained according to organisational policies and procedures.
