This unit standard has as its core purpose, qualifying learners who can communicate at a high level of oral and written interactions and in a wide range of socio-cultural, learning and/or workplace contexts. The learner will be able to use language confidently and articulate purpose and meaning clearly. The learner will use language to convey detailed information, and to express points of view and feelings appropriately.

Assessment methods and integrated assessment
Ensure that assessment covers the specific outcomes, the critical cross-field outcomes and the essential embedded knowledge. Assessment activities should be appropriate to the context and tools may include self-assessment, peer assessment, formative and summative assessment. A range of assessment methods should be used, including direct observation, product sample, case study analysis, simulation, questioning (verbal or written) and testimony (portfolio collection of evidence). Integrated assessment: It may be more effective and efficient to assess a number of unit standards together thus reducing the number of assessment "events". Ensure that the commonalities that exist between a number of unit standards are captured in a way that makes sense for assessment. |
