PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners who achieve this unit standard will have an overview of the various elements involved in the housing process. This is an introductory standard which helps learners access information and choose the procedures for obtaining housing which is relevant to their context. On the basis of this knowledge they can investigate the relevant areas in more depth.In order to apply this unit standard, it is assumed that learners are able to read and write to a level appropriate for NQF Level 1.

    UNIT STANDARD ASSESSOR CRITERIA 
  • While this standard aims at giving an introductory overview, the outcomes can be assessed in the context of the particular needs of a specific group of learners through choosing the range that is most appropriate.
  • Given that this standard is at NQF Level 1 and could from part of a learner`s General Education and Training Certificate, some of the assessment evidence must be in a form related to competence in reading and writing at this level.
  • Assessment evidence should be gathered in the real-life application of the outcomes in the housing process where possible (e.g. completed application forms). If this is not feasible in terms of the learner`s own involvement, or his/her availability to the assessor over time, simulations, role plays, interviews, portfolios and tests can be used.
  • Translation and interpreting services should be used if these are needed.
