PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in: Preparing a slitting machine for production to ensure readiness for the slitting of metallised paper.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE

The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions. The scope of this unit standard deals with the preparation of the slitting machine after supplying raw materials and before the manufacturing of slitted rolls. Material includes different grammage metallised papers, silicone spray, cello tape, adhesive and stamp pad ink. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, slitting knives, rewind shafts, inner cores, special tools, hoisting equipment, pallets and pallet trucks.
