A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Shutting down , cleaning and performing basic maintenance on a pre and post treatment machine to ensure readiness for further production

To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have :
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 2
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on metallised paper
  • Knowledge of preparing a pre and post treatment machine for processing
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the shutting down of a pre and post treatment machine after processing of the pre and post treated rolls and before scheduled cleaning

    Material includes different grammage metallised papers, masking tape, different varnishes and solvents

    Equipment includes, but is not limited to, expansion shafts ,doctor blade, pressure roller, analox roller, varnish trough, cores, special tools, hoisting equipment and pallet trucks
