Included in this unit standard are equipment and systems for fire suppression, personal safety clothing, breathing apparatus, and ancillary safety equipment (axes, ropes, flares, lighting, torches etc). Manufacturer`s instructions for equipment include: maintenance manuals and operating instructions. Repairs or replacement action on damaged or deficient equipment can be initiated by the individual or reported to a supervising officer for action. Documentation and records may be the deck log book, or other form as detailed by the organisation in its standard operating procedures. Skills and knowledge required to support this unit standard include: safety equipment operation and capability, legislation on equipment type and quantity to be carried on the vessel. |
