PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within a supervisory or management of fleet vehicles environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Understanding and applying the generally accepted appropriate vehicle fleet management principles.
  • Applying knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, technical and maintenance activities etc. conducive to fleet management.
  • Selecting appropriate vehicles and method of acquisition and financing.
  • Executing the fleet management policy of the undertaking. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard / qualification will have demonstrated competence against numeracy and literacy at NQF Level 3, communication skills equivalent to NQF Level 2 and the Certificate in Road Transport Management at NQF Level 3.
