PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are involved in, or contemplating involvement in, the administration of exports and imports in the motor manufacturing industry and/ or the assessment of MIDP refund claims, duty payments and excise declarations.

Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to apply the provisions of the relevant sections and Schedules of the Customs Act and other statutory processes and procedures to the administration and assessment of the current phase of the Motor Industry Development Programme.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed in a work context with distant supervision, with learners often being held responsible for the output of others. Learners are required to operate under self-direction. Learners are expected to demonstrate the ability to negotiate outcomes under guidance and to take personal responsibility for planning and delivery, in their pursuit of the achievement of the standards as described in the assessment criteria.

1. Identify and classify components and products which qualify for consideration under the Motor Industry Development Programme.

2. Provide assistance to the automotive industry on the Department of Trade and Industry Guidelines relating to the Motor Industry Development Programme.

3. Prepare and submit Customs documentation for goods dealt with in terms of this Programme in compliance with the relevant Schedule and sections of the Customs Act. 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
4. Assess applications submitted in terms of this Programme for refunds of duty, payments of Excise accounts and the bringing of non rebated Customs Duty to account.

1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.
