PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are or who wish to be employed in manufacturing operations and who are required, as part of their warehousing duties, to establish and operate rebate stores.

It is also intended for individuals employed within, or wishing to be employed within the Forwarding industry, who may be required to advise importing clients as to their obligations and responsibilities, in respect of rebate store establishment and operations.

Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to establish, register, and operate Rebate Stores in terms of the applicable sections of the Customs and Excise act and Rules.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
Learners are expected to perform the specific outcomes, as expressed in this Unit Standard, within a structured work environment, regulated by the conditions as set out in the section of the Custom`s Act pertaining to the registration and operation of Rebate Stores.

The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed in a structured work context with minimal supervision, which allows for learners to operate under self-direction and take full responsibility for all expected outcomes.

Learners are expected to have access to the relevant regulations and legislative rules, guidelines etc..Learners, in performing the specific outcomes at the level expressed in this unit standard, are expected to generate a range of responses, a limited number of which are innovative, to well defined but often previously unencountered problems. 1. Establish and register a Rebate Store with Customs, meeting the relevant provisions of the Customs and Excise Act and Rules.

2. Operate a Rebate Store as a registered Rebate user, meeting the relevant provisions of the Customs and Excise Act and Rules.

3. Maintain Rebate Store records in accordance with legislative requirements.

1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
