  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY
It appears that only in New Zealand is a one-year qualification offered whereas in other countries Personal Trainer courses range from three months to eight months of training. The New Zealand Institute of Sports (NZIS) Certificate in Personal Training was chosen for comparability with its exercise component. Upon completion of the NZIS Certificate in Personal Training, learners will be able to provide personal training for a wide range of clientele. The NZIS Certificate in Personal Training covers essential aspects of exercise prescription and strength and conditioning, ensuring the NZIS Personal Trainers are industry-ready.

This qualification was also compared with standards set by international organizations such as IIFT-International, NSCACC-USA, and FISAF International. The learning also compares well with the requirements laid down by the American College of Sports Medicine and American Heart Association, all of which are programmes of shorter duration than one year.

    Conclusion:
The qualification compares favourably with the courses described above in terms of the competences the learners will develop related to exercises for healthy clients, those with chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart problems as well as for those with sports-related injuries.
