| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| Purpose:
The purpose of the Advanced Certificate in Management Practice is to provide junior and early middle managers with the operational context and knowledge to optimise operations management in the workplace. The Advanced Certificate in Management Practice addresses this need by providing a qualification just slightly above entry level in the key functional areas relevant to management practice. |

| There are many instances of qualifications like an Advanced Certificate in Management being offered internationally. Two particularly instructive examples come from Canada and New Zealand. Thompson Rivers University offers a qualification comprising six compulsory modules in Open Thinking, Analytical Decision-Making, Open Communication, Leadership Fundamentals, Contemporary Leadership; and Transition and New Beginnings.
The New Zealand Institute of Management offers an Advanced Certificate in Management via distance learning that is designed to provide learners the knowledge and skills in personal, work-place and enterprise management. The qualification focuses also on practical experience in that they use their learning in simulated and real enterprise settings thus ensuring the ability and confidence to transfer their learning into their future lives. Conclusion: The Advanced Certificate in Management Practice compares favourably with the cognate international qualifications surveyed in general, and in particular with the two outlined above. |
