The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The primary purpose of the redesigned qualification is to educate and train learners who can contribute to the development of knowledge at an advanced and specialist level of conflict management theory and its application The qualification provides a multidisciplinary, theoretical understanding of social conflict and aims at presenting knowledge, applied knowledge and skills for the successful transformation and management of conflict in the private, public and civil society sectors. The qualification also provides the necessary specialist interdisciplinary and disciplinary instruction to students with a relevant Bachelor Honours Degree or a relevant Postgraduate Diploma.

Rationale:
The qualification is designed to address the need for training in respect of specialist knowledge and skills in the field of conflict analysis, and an in-depth understanding of the implications of conflict transformation (from destructive to constructive forms), in the broader society and in the workplace. Specifically, this translates to equipping middle managers in general, and conflict management specialists in particular, with the skills and knowledge that they need to manage interpersonal, intergroup and international conflict.

  • MODERATION OPTIONS 
    All evaluation - including research report - is moderated by discipline experts external to the University.
  • The internal assessors will be the course lecturers and course coordinators responsible for the modules.
  • The external assessors will be the external examiners appointed through the standard processes and procedures according to the University standard criteria.
  • The internal assessor for the research project will be the supervisor appointed by the Faculty to supervise the research project. The project will follow the standard procedure of ethical clearance through the Faculty and University. All modules will be evaluated with the assistance of an academic expert external to the University. The reports of the external examiners on learner's performance are reviewed at the end of each semester, academic years and discussed with staff within the Faculty.
  • Staff supervising research projects will receive reports and feedback from the external examiners and coordinators.
