PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION
Purpose:
This qualification promotes recognition of the interconnectedness of human culture. It emphasises the need to adopt a wide variety of learning and research strategies across established disciplinary boundaries to build up as complete a picture as possible when not all the relevant material is extant. The skills and perceptions acquired through this qualification are widely applicable in all employment categories, particularly in those related to human interaction. The study of the many aspects of ancient culture that have contributed markedly and directly to western culture enables learners to participate fully in the international arena on an equal footing with citizens of other western-style nations.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience.
The policy states that, in cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
