Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The qualifying learner will be able to conduct independent research under minimal guidance in a chosen field, and contribute to knowledge production in that field. The learner will be able to develop a sound understanding of the overall context within which entrepreneurial development takes place as well as evaluate and establish new business opportunities. The research problem, its justification, process and outcome is reported in a mini-dissertation which complies with the generally accepted norms for research at that level. This qualification targets Academic staff from a wide range of disciplines in the various educational sectors. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL In terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies is RPL policy.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours (NQF Level 8).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in a related field (NQF Level 8).

  • Compile an audit report of the internal and external environment which identifies new technologies, niche markets and new business opportunities.
  • Complete a research document which includes the various product and process strategies available.
  • An analysis of the marketing strategies used in the SMME sector.
  • Present a case study using computerised software.
  • Present a business plan to a panel of experts.
  • Conduct an appropriate and persuasive presentation mode.
  • Complete a written examination to test the understanding of financial statements and financial ratios and apply knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Apply appropriate educational theories in the design of teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
  • Disseminate the results of research in the form of a paper.
