Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Persons attaining this qualification will have competence in consulting, diagnosing, communicating holistic advice to and managing patients in the field of homoeopathy. They will function as primary contact practitioners, according to the scope of practice of a Homoeopath. Also, they will be competent to compound, dispense and prescribe medicines within that scope of practice, and be able to conduct research of homoeopathic relevance. The qualification will render them eligible for registration with the statutory body. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Biotechnology, NQF Level 8.
  • Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Science in Biotechnology, NQF Level 8.

    3. Work effectively with specialised scientists in the particular field at a high academic level.
    4. Manage one's own time to achieve execution of a research plan and integrate all the conflicting information pertinent to the study.
    5. Communicate, particularly in scientific terms, in an internationally acceptable style both verbally and in written reports and publications.
    6. Use science and technology to contribute to the knowledge and understanding in the field is an overt outcome of this qualification.

    The following associated assessment criteria apply across all Exit Level Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate familiarity with relevant and recent trends in technologies, techniques, models and theories in the chosen field through the survey of the listed literature and cited literature.
  • Analyse, explain and correctly juxtapose in oral presentation and written records the models, principles, theories, techniques and methodologies in the chosen field.
  • Fully and correctly justify in oral presentations and written records of research the use of literature surveys/experimentation/correlation/casual analysis.
  • Identify, define and detail the research problem in the research proposal.
  • Select appropriate techniques and methods.
  • Responsibly and ethically conduct experimental research.
  • Correctly apply the appropriate mathematical and statistical methods to interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Logically interpret data to reflect a clear understanding of the relationship between facts in the study and the ability to evaluate contradictory information.
  • Correctly and appropriately use and include a range of media as Information sources.
  • Effectively apply information technology skills in information searches, data analyses, data presentation, and the production of the dissertation.
  • Correctly apply the appropriate mathematical and statistical methods quantitative and qualitative data.

    Integrated Assessment:
    Assessment across the qualification forms an integral part of the teaching and learning process. In achieving the learning outcomes, learners are required to comply with the minimum assessments set for the level of the qualification, as per the Institution's Assessment Policy. Assessments vary depending on the module and the outcomes of the module; however, all modules are formative and summative assessed. The assessment of theoretical modules is usually in the form of assignments, practical's and written tests or examinations.
