Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The qualified learner will be competent in researching such an extent that a substantial contribution is made towards the development of the field of marketing. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience.
In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence that the stated competence of the qualification has been achieved through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes.

Entry Requirements:
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • Master's of Philosophy in Management, NQF Level 9.

    The following Associated Assessment Criteria are used in an Integrated Manner across all Exit Level Outcomes:
  • Complete a thesis in the marketing field and make a contribution towards the development of marketing as a social science.
  • Conduct research.
  • Contribute towards the development of the field of marketing by exploring or investigating a specific topic in marketing.
  • Thorough knowledge of the research process.
  • Application of research methodology.
  • Identify and formulate a problem in the marketing field that will contribute to the development of marketing.
  • Conduct secondary research related to the identified problem.
  • Conduct primary research related to the identified problem.
  • Compile a report on the research findings.

    Integrated Assessment:
    Continuous assessment of research work, (Formative), self-assessment, summative assessment on the completion of the thesis.
