PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The purpose of this qualification is to develop an integrated conceptual understanding, synthesis and application of specific issues in Business management. The qualification is also aimed at the learners having some relevant work experience but who aspire to grow and hold management positions in their respective industries. At the exit point of this qualification, learners will be able to:
  • Apply management principles and in a work-based context.
  • Display project management skills.
  • Utilise technology to communicate effectively.
  • Communicate effectively using both verbal and non-verbal communication.

    Rationale:
    The complex nature of the modern day business world requires that individuals with the requisite level of knowledge and skills be recruited to lead and manage different industries. This qualification (Higher Certificate in Business Management) is developed as a way of contributing to regional and national goals by facilitating capacity building and human resource development in various sectors of the economy. Learners of this qualification will be introduced to different management and business principles to enable them to function effectively in a variety of business settings.

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    MANCOSA was established in the post 1994 period with the view of addressing the critical shortage of access to management education in South Africa. Between 1995 and 2000 MANC0SA was engaged in providing Private Higher Education to South Africans in association with its former partner the Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College a College of the University of Brunel, in the United Kingdom.

    The Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College is listed as an accredited state recognised institution in the United Kingdom. During this 5-year period MANCOSA successfully delivered tuition and academic and administrative support to over 860 learners enrolled on the Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College programmes.

    The outcomes and assessment criteria, the Degree of complexity and the notional learning time of this qualification have been benchmarked against the institutions' former international partner, the Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and best national and international practice.

    This qualification articulates into Degree and Diploma qualifications from related and other sectors of the economy, relevant experience and prior learning.
