| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| Provide qualifiers with specialised knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the field of Applied Biotechnology that provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contribution to society.
Produce graduates who can develop the Biotechnology industry in South Africa and understand the importance of research in this area. Produce Postgraduates of a calibre to sustain and develop the Biotechnology in South Africa. Develop a research capacity adequate to stimulate growth in the numbers of potential Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students, and the co-operation of Biotechnology and the related sectors of the economy in joint research efforts. |
