Registered-data under construction

The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.  

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
Apply educational knowledge, skills, principles and methods to analyse, interpret and understand management leadership concepts through assessing and recognising the prior learning experiences of working adult learners and then to develop, at a certificate level, the intellectual and practical capabilities of these learners in preparation for a career:
  • In business and industry.
  • Responding to the needs of the community.
  • In the public sector.
  • In the trade unions.
  • In life-long learning and the appreciation of the value of education and society.

    Qualifying learners will demonstrate knowledge, skills and applied competence in the field of study that provide opportunities for continued personal growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Recognition of Prior Learn (RPL):
    The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

    Entry Requirements:
    The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, granting access to Higher Certificate studies.

    The following Associated Assesment Criteria will be used in an integrated manner across all Exit Level Outcomes:
  • Analyse relevant case studies.
  • Solve managerial leadership problems according to set learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively within a management leadership context.

    Integrated Assessment:
    Competence is achieved, through continuous assessment by demonstrating the ability to achieve the outcomes of the qualification:
  • Written assignments.
  • Discussion groups.
  • Examinations.
  • Problem-solving and the integration of knowledge and skills.
  • Teamwork.
  • Standardised marking and feedback on assignments and projects. 

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    This qualification compares with similar international qualifications in terms of the range of competencies in the learning content offered. 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    This qualification allows possibilities for both vertical and horizontal articulation.
