2. To develop student towards an integrated conceptual clinical nursing framework. 3. To expose student to a wide spectrum of clientele/patients and give them advanced practical experience. 4. To produce a specialist nurse practitioner. 5. To use the principles enshrined in the Constitution of South Africa to advocate for improvement of Health Care. 6. To understand the advocacy process and the rights of individuals, families, groups and communities. 7. To participate in policy development for nursing/midwifery and health care of individuals, families and communities. 8. To negotiate for stakeholders group involvement in policy formulation. |

| The learner, on completion of this qualification, will:
1. Identify and explore new roles for nurses within the multidisciplinary team. 3. Maintain professional excellence, credibility and competence through continuing education. 4. Function as a health care consultant. The learner will be assessed on the following core competencies: 1. Implementation of nursing care management activities according to the Scope of Practice. 2. Participation in multidisciplinary quality assurance task groups and in peer review. 3. Reviewing the effectiveness of the application of the scientific approach of nursing and Primary Health Care principles for quality care. 4. Application of research principles and utilisation of research findings in solving clinical problems (patient-centred and personnel-centred). |
