PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
* To Equip Students with skills for analysis of the physical and Human environment

* To provide proficiency in using spatial analysis tools such as Geographical Information Systems, Remote sensing and Cartography in solving environmental problems.

* To equip students with skills of integrating knowledge in human and physical geography in order to work as team players in one or more of the following areas: Tourism, Population and Demography, Rural and Urban Development, Land Reform and Integrated Spatial Planning.
* To train students in research Methodology in Geography and Environmental Sciences and how to apply the knowledge in solving practical problems locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
