PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
To provide an opportunity for graduates who are not in possession of an undergraduate qualification in Human Resources Management to become practitioners in the Human Resources field with a particular emphasis on training and development.

Rationale:
A candidate at this level can perform management activities associated with the management of training function and typically functions as a training and development manager. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
NQF Level 6 qualification in a relevant field.

Recognition of Prior Learning(RPL):
In accordance with institutional RPL policy.

National Diploma at NQF Level 6: Human Resource Management or Training Diploma or equivalent.

    Honours Degree - New NQF Level 08.
    Possession of a Bachelor Arts Degree (NQF Level 6 generating a minimum of 360 Credits) and previous academic achievement of at least an average of 60% is an important consideration. Applicable work environment preferably within the field of the Human Resource Development to support the practical work required by studying for the Degree.

    The learners conduct independent research and submit 43 assessment outputs in the programme. Integrated assessment, focusing on the achievement of the Exit Level Outcomes will be done by means of a written assessment taken on conclusion of each module and a sub-minimum of 50% is required in each module in order to proceed to the other modules. A competency portfolio comprised of learning work sheets for all modules completed is submitted and assessed, which contributes a significant proportion of 20% of the students' final mark.

    University of the Western Cape, South Africa:
    Advanced Diploma: Management: Human Resource Management.

    Further Diploma - New NQF Level 07:
    Graduates from any discipline who have developed the ability to transfer these skills into the management domain, national diplomats from any discipline who have some work experience after completing their qualification and experienced employees who have had extensive work experience at an administrative, professional or managerial level who have at least attained a grade 12 certificate will be considered entry into the programme.

    All modules are evaluated on a continuous assessment basis. Formative assessment consists of various kinds of individual and group assignments, presentations, case studies, role plays, simulations and research essays are provided for feedback and mentoring. Summative assessment is by formal examination.
