Graduates of the programme will: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of statistics with particular reference to the areas of estimation and hypothesis testing; understand the mainstream statistical theories and methods for the analysis of data; and understand and be able to implement mainstream statistical theories and methods for the analysis of data. 2. Be capable of analytic thought and also of bringing together concepts, theory and methods from different areas of learning in order to solve particular problems; apply the appropriate statistical methods and statistical software to analyse data; and interpret the results. 3. Be skilled in designing statistical models and analysing them using appropriate theory, and demonstrate practical technical skills including relatively advanced computer skills. 4. Be capable of collaborative group work in the application of statistics and related fields to real-world problems. 5. Have well-developed communication skills in written and spoken English, with emphasis on the expression of real-world statistical problems in mathematical terms. 6. Use technology responsibly through regulated practice in the laboratories. 7. Demonstrate the use of statistical principles and concepts, and the integration of knowledge from other disciplines, across real-world contexts. Graduates of the programme will be aware of: 8. A variety of thinking and learning skills, with emphasis on the application of Statistics to real-life situations. 9. Participating in society as responsible statisticians; assisting other scientists with the statistical analysis of their data. 10. Demonstrating cultural, social and environmental awareness, through, for example the imparting of statistical skills in society particularly to historically disadvantaged communities. 11. Career opportunities in Statistics, through the tracking of job opportunities in the National press, placed on a notice board. 12. Fundamental entrepreneurial skills through exposure to basic business practices and financial management, with emphasis on the relevancy of statistics and the interpretation of statistical data. |

| PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS QUALIFICATION: |
| This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here. |
