PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
Purpose:
With this qualification, successful learners may be employed as junior managers in public, private and non-governmental organisations. Learners will also be empowered with the learning and skills necessary to initiate and develop their own businesses. Learners successfully mastering the competencies in this qualification will be able to contribute to the broader society by providing sound business administration managerial skills within both the public and private sectors. This qualification offers Christian-orientated learning around professionalism, ethics and accountability. The qualifying learner will be capable of: Rationale: This qualification meets the needs of the business sector by providing learners with specialised business administration managerial skills who will be able to contribute to the development of the country and the economy, in both the private and public sectors, through critical and analytical thinking and innovation. Learners will be capacitated to make business administration-related decisions through expertise acquired during learning. The qualification also fulfils an on-going need in the development of the economy as the competent management of businesses, both formal and entrepreneurial, remains a critical need. The typical learners attempting this qualification would migrate from the schooling system with the necessary admission requirements. This qualification enables graduates to pursue an Honours Degree in areas such as Business Administration, Business Leadership, Human Resource Management, Public Administration. This qualification achieves the objectives of the NQF by facilitating access to, and mobility and progression within education, thereby contributing to the full personal development of each learner and the social and economic development of the nation at large. |

Recognition of Prior Learning: This qualification may be achieved in part through the Recognition of Prior Learning, which includes formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience. Care is taken that the Recognition of Prior Learning mechanism provides the learner with an opportunity to demonstrate competence and is not so onerous as to prevent learners from taking up the Recognition of Prior Learning option. Recognition of Prior Learning is done by means of Integrated Assessment. INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY |
This qualification compares favourably with a three-year Bachelor of Business Administration Degree offered by the European University. This qualification differs in that it offers Christian-orientated learning. The Degree has also been compared with that of the Southern Adventist University operating under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Accrediting Association, United States of America (USA) and Andrews University, operating under the North Central Association Accrediting body, USA.
