| Exit Level Outcome:
On completion of the programme leading to a qualification learners will be capable of understanding, identifying and using different research methods and techniques such as interviews, critical analysis of literature on Fine Arts as well as the works of artists to be researched on, using modern technology such as the video, Internet, and demonstrate a critical appreciation of work by notable artists researched into. Specified Outcomes: 1. Demonstrating ability to apply a range of research techniques. 2. Appreciating and analysing critically all the scholarly works in the field of Fine Arts. 3. Producing a well ordered and carefully structured dissertation. |
| ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
| 1.1 Exhibiting familiarity with interview techniques by recognizing possible drawbacks such as inconsistencies and contradictions.
1.2 Analyzing specialist texts, library books and relevant journals to authenticate views expressed by scholars in the field of Fine Arts. 2.1 Identifying important ideas, concepts, theories and generalizations in the sources or literature consulted. 2.2 Recognizing differences between evidence, argument and assertion. 3.1 Researching on a theme of preference and consolidate the skills acquired to produce an approved number of artworks. 3.2 Writing a research proposal on the research to be conducted. 3.3 Submitting a range of slides or photographs and sketches of fifteen recent works and mount an exhibition of supervised work. 3.4 Producing a dissertation which gives an in-depth survey of the practical component of the programme. Integrated assessment: Formative and summative assessment patterns will be used throughout the duration of learning to track the progress of students towards the projected competencies and provide appropriate remedial work where necessary. A learner profile will be developed reflecting the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes testifying to competence in conducting research. |

| Internal moderation by first and second examiners /markers will be used to ensure the agreed standards are used to assess the learners' work. An external moderator will check the students' portfolios. In compliance with NQF, the learners' work may also be moderated by the Education and Training Quality Assures (ETQAs) or other bodies accredited by the ETQAs. |
