PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
  • To provide qualifiers with comprehensive knowledge, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills in the field of public administration and management, and governance that would enable them to be self-driven, and integrated thinkers who ca critically evaluate the literature pertaining to the field of specialisation and continued professional growth.
  • To provide South Africa with post-graduates who are capable of leading extensive governmental and non-governmental administrative transformation, as well as guidance for improved infrastructures and services.
  • To provide South Africa with professionals who are able to contribute to, and act within, a democratic, accountable, and responsive public sector environment and non-governmental environment.
  • To provide South Africa with a significant number of post-graduates in order to ensure that the local administrative and political leadership base in innovative knowledge, economic and scholarly activity is widened.

  • The qualification will fall under a board comprising members of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration.
  • External assessors from reputable Universities will be appointed in order to maintain a national Standard of Excellence. 

  • CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Lecturers assigned to each module conduct their own assessment in accordance with the rules determined by Board of Examiners and approved by Senate. Teaching staff members are appointed on the basis of appropriate qualifications as determined by the Council.

    As per the SAQA Board decision/s at that time, this qualification was Reregistered in 2006.
