| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| The purpose of the LLD is to recognise a scholar of international stature whose published works constitute a distinguished contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Law. |
| LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
| Candidates for the LLD will normally have a PhD but this is not a requisite.
Candidates must be senior scholars with a long-held and substantial international reputation. Recognition for prior learning: Candidates are granted credit for equivalent prior learning. |
