The qualification content is currently being updated for the qualifications with the status “Registered-data under construction” or showing “DETAILS UNDER CONSTRUCTION” to ensure compliance with SAQA’S Policy and Criteria for the registration of qualifications and part-qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (As amended, 2022). These qualifications are re-registered until 30 June 2027 and can legitimately be offered by the institutions to which they are registered.

 

In all of the tables in this document, both the pre-2009 NQF Level and the NQF Level is shown. In the text (purpose statements, qualification rules, etc), any references to NQF Levels are to the pre-2009 levels unless specifically stated otherwise.

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
    The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

    Entry requirements:
    The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is:
  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, NQF Level 7.
  • Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology, Level 7.
    Or
  • Advanced Diploma in Social Work, NQF Level 7.

    ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    Integrated Assessment:
    Meet all requirements for the award of the qualification, as well as passing the requirement to produce an integrative and reflective research report.

    Integrated assessment appropriately incorporated to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved:
    1. Multiple-choice tests and examinations, designed to assess specific knowledge in modules.
    2. Paragraph and essay tests and examinations, designed to assess learner's capacity to integrate material from various sections of a module and construct a critical argument.
    3. Essay assignments, designed to elicit learners skills in researching a topic, to synthesise information, to analyse a statement or question, to develop a reasoned argument and to present their work as a coherent written submission.
    4. Tutorial assignments, designed to assess the capacity of learners to execute specific tasks related to the material incorporated into the module.
    5. Practical assignment, designed to examine learners competence to perform psychology tasks and to integrate findings into a theoretical or practice framework.
    6. Tutorial and practical presentations, designed to assess learners capacity to present work, orally and in written format.
    7. Research reports, designed to assess learners abilities to synthesise existing knowledge and to report on the theoretical and methodological features of their own research Advanced Diploma: Social Work.
    8. Capstone modules and or capstone requirements within a module such as an integrative essay, report, or dissertation.
