| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| * To strengthen research skills, managerial skills and educational skills acquired at Bachelors degree level.
* To develop specialisation in the area of interest so as to improve the quality of care through proper planning and input to policy formulation. * To conduct research for the improvement of nursing and health services and to utilize research for the provision of quality are. * To increase the understanding of dynamics in health care and health service. |

* Proof of registration with the South African Nursing Council and proof of membership with any South African Nursing Association/Professional Organisation. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING The candidate must have obtained 60% in the area of specialization or have passed an additional entry exam designed for candidates who obtained less than 60% in the area of specialization at Bachelors degree level. Students who have conducted a research project may be credited. |

| Class presentations, assignments, project proposals, tests, contribute towards a year mark. First year courses - one-hour paper in each course, computer skills will be examined separately and obtain a certificate.
Each speciality has three 3-hour papers. |
