PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification enables graduates to apply integrated technical knowledge/skills and advanced analysis and problem solving to a particular specialisation in the field of Town and Regional Planning through involvement in an applied research project, and to demonstrate a high level of overall knowledge, ranging from fundamental concepts to advanced theoretical or applied knowledge.

    Integrated assessment:

    Will be formatively and summatively assessed by regular evaluation of progress by supervisor and final evaluation of thesis by internal and external examiners.

    While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above).
