To providers qualifiers with specialised knowledge, specific and applied competence in a dental/allied discipline that provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society to provide South Africa with significant numbers of postgraduates in a number of dental/allied in order to ensure that the local leadership base of innovative an knowledge based economic and scholarly activity is widened

ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
This qualification articulates vertically with all qualifications in the same discipline at level 8 of all other higher education institutions. It will be the additional criteria that these other higher education institutions will apply which will determine whether students from the faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) will be admitted to the next qualification at other institutions 

MODERATION OPTIONS 
External moderation of the course and assessment of student progress will be done by external moderators appointed by the Faculty of Dentistry on an annual basis. Internal moderation will occur through the various departments within the Faculty, approved by Senate. The moderation bodies are both the Council for Higher Education and the Medical and Dental Professional Board 

CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
An assessor must be a registered member of the medical and Dental Professional Board and should have at two to five years experience in the particular field of Dentistry
