PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION

Persons achieving this qualification will be able to conduct advanced independent research in a highly specialised area of clothing, and demonstrate complex analytical and evaluative skills in order to expand or redefine existing or new knowledge to contribute towards the advancement of the clothing industry.

6 Information technology skills are applied effectively in information searches data analyses, data presentation and the production of the dissertation.

7 The appropriate mathematical and statistical methods are applied correctly to quantitative and qualitative data.

9 Language and numeracy skills are applied effectively and correctly in clearly communicating the research problem, its investigation, outcome and recommendations

Formative assessment:

Method of assessment used will encourage critical thinking and academic skills and ensure the purpose of the qualification is met. Academic discussion with a competent supervisor or mentor will form the mainstay of formative assessment.

Summative assessment:
The knowledge, skills and values relating to academic and professional competencies will be determined through the submission and presentation of a research project or report.

As per the SAQA Board decision/s at that time, this qualification was Reregistered in 2009; 2012; 2015.

NOTES

While South Africa still had Technikons, all of their qualifications were registered under the Committee of Technikon Principals. After the Technikons became Universities of Technology or merged with Universities, the qualifications were registered under each of these institutions, and the CTP qualifications fell away (hence the end date of 2006, above). Where relevant, replacement information is
shown in the table above.
