PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:

To equip students who are in possession of a BLogistics Degree with advanced and Core knowledge in order to be competent in planning, implementing and controlling the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from the place of origin to the place of consumption, in such a way that client demands are satisfied optimally with the purpose to maximise the prosperity in all sectors of the economy.

To develop competent specialist analysts and leaders who will be able to organise complex operations which entail the allocation and distribution of physical resources.

To provide students who want to proceed with Master's Degree course work and research studies in Logistics and Operations Analysis with a sound prerequisite academic base for such study.

Specialist logisticians will, after completing the programme and gaining sufficient appropriate practical experience of approximately three years, be able to independently or as leaders; analyse, plan, implement and manage any logistical function within an enterprise/organisation on strategic, tactical and operational levels, and found decisions quantitatively, organise complex operations which entail the allocation and distribution of physical resources, and be equipped to proceed with Master's degree research. 

    ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
    Associated Assessment Criteria for Exit Level Outcomes:
  • The assessment used for this Qualification ensures that the purpose of the Qualification is achieved.
  • A range of formative and summative assessment methods such as simulations, assignments, case studies, work-place assessments, written and oral presentations and examinations are used.
  • The required range of modalities is used integratively to assess whether the specified outcomes have been achieved.
  • From the assessment of samples generalising to a domain takes place in a judicious and planned way in order to ensure reliability.
  • The assessment used meets the standard and level of achievement for NQF Level 7.

    Integrated Assessment:

    Examination entry is obtained by achieving a class mark of at least 40%. This is based on class attendance and group participation, advanced practical simulations, case studies, and theoretical assignments. The final assessment is based on a weighted average of the class mark and the mark obtained in a written examination.
