PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification includes the various specialisations. Please refer to "Notes" for details on the specialisations.
  • To provide qualifiers with comprehensive knowledge, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills in the field of business, commerce and management; that would enable them to be self-driven, and integrated thinkers who can critically evaluate the literature pertaining to the field of specialisation and continued professional growth.
  • To provide South Africa with commerce post-graduates who are capable of contributing to economic growth, development and job creation as entrepreneurs and professionals.
  • To provide South Africa with a significant number of commerce post-graduates in order to ensure that the local leadership base in innovative knowledge, economic and scholary activity is widened. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Formal Qualifications:
  • B.Com. Degree or another approved related Commercial Bachelors Degree and have passed the final course in the subject in which he/she wishes to proceed; or
  • Be in possession of another degree and have passed at least five B.Com courses which include subjects such as Economics, Management, Accounting, and Quantitative Methods and have passed the final course in the subject in which he/she wishes to study;

  • In cases where prior learning at other institutions, or relevant experience, is deemed by the Dean to compensate for the lack of formal qualifications required above, a candidate may be admitted to the Faculty.

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • The qualification will fall under a board comprising members of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration.
  • External assessors from reputable Universities will be appointed in order to maintain a national Standard of Excellence. 

  • CRITERIA FOR THE REGISTRATION OF ASSESSORS 
    Lecturers assigned to each module conduct their own assessment in accordance with the rules determined by Board of Examiners and approved by Senate. Teaching staff members are appointed on the basis of appropriate qualifications as determined by the Council.
