PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification is intended for persons specialising in the field of construction management. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent to independently perform services relevant to contract planning management and property development. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Higher Education and Training National Diploma in Building (equivalent to First/ Bachelor degree) or equivalent at NQF level 6.

QUALIFICATION RULES 
The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes. 

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES 
1. Provide financial management skills and create awareness of entrepreneurship.

3. Provide an integrated approach to the planning and management of contracts.

    1.1 Knowledge and ability to analyse financial and cost statements has been demonstrated.

    1.3 Ability to prepare a business plan has been demonstrated.

    2.1 Ability to undertake market study for property development has been demonstrated.

    2.2 Ability to compile and analyse feasibility reports has been demonstrated.

    3.1 Knowledge of planning and management has been demonstrated.

    Integrated assessment:

    Will be formatively and summatively assessed by integrating written tests, project work, practical simulation, written examinations and practical examinations. 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    Entry into relevant masters degree study.
    Registration with professional bodies relevant to the construction industry. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    As required by Sertec and the Association of SA Quantity Surveyors (only applicable to accredited technikons).
