PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
* To develop an integrated understanding of theoretical knowledge derived from a range of disciplines in the humanities (including social sciences) pertaining to the phenomena and processes of decision-making, values and leadership in the context of an advanced, knowledge base economic and societal system.

* To develop an understanding of and professional mastery of selected, recognised applications of service procedures models and instruments in the fields of decision making, value, knowledge, work and leadership

*To develop proficiency in the professional execution of the above application

*To develop an above - average standard of logic, and communication and presentation skills with regard to the theoretical foundations, contents and results of such applications, in particular with a view to their broadest possible utility in society at large.

3. Apply selected, standardised analytical procedures, models and instruments with regard to decision-making, value assumptions, knowledge work and leadership in a given organisation, corporation or community;
4. Present the outcome of such analyses in suitable formats. 

ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
1. The assessment used for the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Value and Policy Studies ensures that the purpose of the qualification is achieved

2. Formative and summative assessment methods such as written assignments oral and group presentations and examinations are used

3. The required range of modalities is used integratively to assess whether specified outcomes have been achieved

4. From the assessment of samples, generalising to a domain takes place in order to ensure reliabilty

5. The assessment meets the standard and level of achievement for NQF level 7.

Integrated assessment:

Integrated assessment is accomplished by means of a final examination in which the student demonstrates proficiency with both theory and praxis through an observed, simulated execution of one or more of the application procedures dealt with during the course of the programme.
