PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
To provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the distinct fields of management and law.
To enable the qualifier to continue personal intellectual growth, evoke meaningful economic activity and contribute towards societal upliftment. To supply economically relevant numbers of qualifiers to ensure the necessary local leadership and innovative behaviour that ultimately extend to the regional, national and international areas of economic activity. To prepare candidates as potential managers with a solid background in law, who can be trained further to the exact needs of the business and corporate world, and are able to start and manage an own enterprise, with an added value to provide qualifiers with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills which are the foundation which will enable qualifiers to gain entry into the formal legal profession (e.g. attorneys/advocates) and other careers in law. |

To provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in a number of fields of economic and management sciences and law, that will provide them with opportunities for continued personal and intellectual growth, rewarding economic activity and meaningful contributions to the upliftment of society.
To provide the country with graduates who are well grounded in the complementary sciences of Economics and management and Law in order to widen the leader-ship base of innovative and knowledge-based economic and scholarly activity. To produce graduates who, by subsequently taking an LLB Degree, will provide the country with attorneys and lawyers with an in-depth knowledge of the economic and management sciences. Critical cross-field outcomes: 1. Identify and solve problems in which responses exhibit that a responsible decision making process was followed through critical and creative thinking. 2. Work effectively with others as a team or group member. 3. Manage activities responsibly and effectively. 4. Collect and critically evaluate relevant written and other material. 5. Apply scientific principles and technology effectively and within an ethically accountable framework that exhibit sensitivity towards general human well being. 6. Demonstrate an understanding of the inter-related nature of social, economic, political and technological societal systems. 7. Adhering to a professional code of conduct and responding in an ethically accountable manner. |

Formative and summative assessment methods are used, in the format of written or oral tests and exams, supervision of practical work, presentation of case studies, simulations, assignments and practical assessment of applicable skills.
